Thor Construction has done two separate projects on my home in Harpswell. I find Hank and Heidi to be professional in all aspects of the construction process. I would definitly hire them again and indeed, have more phases of work to go. I wouldn't hire anyone else.
They are creative, enthusiastic, knowledgable, exercised great aesthetic judgment and can problem solve well. During construction they were considerate of my home, personal belongings and cleaned up well after the work was complete.
I myself am in the construction business and am very fussy about how the work gets executed, even to the smallest detail. This was no problem at all for Hank and Heidi, first rate work all around.

It is a pleasure to comment upon and likewise recommend Thor Construction, Harpswell, ME, to a wider community of homeowners, building contractors or anyone seeking professional and highly conscientious housewright services. As an architect and owner of a mid-19th century house in mid-coast Maine, Heidi and Hank (Thor Construction) began work on our house with a scope of work initially entailing minor wood replacement, reconstruction of several building elements, i.e. bulkhead and barn doors, structural reinforcement of weakened floor joists and selective reworking of exterior clapboards and trim. Perhaps all too predictable for a 170 year-old wooden structure, excavation into walls, sills, thresholds, etc. revealed serious deterioration of not just surfacial but structurally integral building members requiring immediate attention. Here Thor Construction’s familiarity with historic structures, materials and building methods proved invaluable. Noting 19th century building techniques, Hank and Heidi worked to preserve what could be maintained and methodically reproduced and improved upon building details where necessary. Several corner posts and cross bracing were either partially or completely replaced, window frames and cornice moldings reproduced, replacement of 30 - 40% of clapboards and leaded flashing around window and door openings describe just some of the expanded scope of the project. In so doing, their work was professional and thorough, attentive to historical accuracy and while the project budget exceeded initial expectations (through no fault of Thor Construction), we were appraised at each stage of estimated costs and contingencies, which as clients, provided peace of mind essential to any building venture.
We thus recommend Thor Construction very highly and look forward to working with Heidi and Hank on future projects.

Hank takes great pride in his work. It was important for us to find someone who could provide a high quality of craftsmanship for our beautiful Victorian. He was fair with his pricing, responsive to our questions, and truly collaborated all along in the process. We’re thrilled with the transformation of our home and are now used to not only getting compliments from those we know but from strangers, too! We greatly appreciate Hank’s professionalism. His genuine care, as what one would expect from a friend, has made this a unique, gratifying experience for us. We missed the crew when they left!
